COVID-19 to cause widespread starvation throughout Myanmar (see update below)
Heavy seasonal rain in Myanmar means that Myanmar suffers annual flooding which destroys housing and infrastructure resulting in the need for emergency relief. In 2018 over 200,000 families were displaced by widespread flooding. OzBurma assisted by providing urgent funds for food, transport and building materials.
As a result of the civil unrest many houses were burnt, OzBurma has helped by donating urgent funds for bamboo and tarpaulins to rebuild shelters. We have also provided rice and oil.
We are seeking funds for further building supplies, water filters, firewood, plastic water tanks, and further food supplies including, chickpeas, rice, dried fish and oil.
