The land for the Elim Community Centre was purchased for US$4,000 with funds donated by New Peninsula Church, Mount Martha in 2010. Further funds were provided to construct a building that was used as a community centre. It is currently used as housing for 5 girls who are interns for OMM who teach English.
OzBurma plans to support OMM's vision to redevelop the Elim site. The project will involve the purchase of the adjoining property and construction of a new community centre and recreation area that will be used to meet the needs of the Elim community by providing a kindergarten during the week, a medical clinic every Saturday, a Church on Sundays and a community soccer pitch. OzBurma is looking to raise in excess of A$130,000. to fund this project.
The Elim medical clinic is currently located in the Elim community centre area. OzBurma currently pays for 2 medical clinics per year. These clinics can last for 2-3 days at a time. The clinic is free of charge and provides doctors and nurses for consultation and health assessment and provides vitamins, drugs and immunisations.
Ozburma plans to expand the clinic within the planned new community center (above) and to hopefully run the clinic on a weekly basis.
